On June 15, 2016, the stamp issue “Ivan Mykolaychuk. 1941-1987” was issued in honor of the outstanding Ukrainian actor, director and screenwriter.

In 2016, he would have turned 75, but instead he remained 46 years old forever, having earned a lifelong memory for his short but colorful life, during which he played 34 film roles, wrote 9 screenplays and directed two films.

Mykolaychuk was called the “soul of Ukrainian cinema,” a genius of our time, and a “people's” artist because he was known and loved by millions, although he was only given the title of “honored” by the government of the day.

“Shadows of Forgotten Ancestors, in which he played one of the main roles, entered the Guinness Book of Records, winning 39 international awards, 28 prizes at film festivals (including 24 Grand Prix) in 21 countries, including Italy, Greece, and Argentina. Harvard University has included the film in the list of required viewing for students applying for a higher degree in film studies.
