In 2025, the Artek International Children's Center, which was founded on June 16, 1925, in Gurzuf on the Crimean Black Sea coast, celebrates its 100th anniversary. Initially, it was a sanatorium camp for children with respiratory diseases, but over time, Artek has become the most famous children's center and one of the largest in the world. However, Artek's history is not only full of glorious pages, but also of challenges it has had to face due to the dramatic events of recent years.

In 2014, the temporary occupation of Crimea by Russia threatened the existence of the Ukrainian Artek on its historical base. In 2015, a children's center was opened in Pushcha-Vodytsia near Kyiv, which was the first step in preserving Artek's traditions and values in mainland Ukraine. After the full-scale invasion began in 2022, Artek was relocated to Zakarpattia region due to the existing threats.

100 years is the time during which Artek has gone through incredible changes and challenges, but the spirit of Artek has remained unchanged. Today, it continues its mission to educate a generation of strong, free, conscious Ukrainians.
