The stamps of the postal issue depict a monument to shipbuilders and naval commanders erected in 1989 to commemorate the bicentennial work of Mykolaiv shipbuilders.

The monument was created by a team of sculptors B.N. Lysenko and V.A. Chepelyk, architects M.I. Kyslyy and V.P. Skulsky. For more than 35 years, this building has been one of the main landmarks of Mykolaiv.
