The Military Law Enforcement Service in the Armed Forces of Ukraine is tasked with ensuring law and order and military discipline in the Armed Forces, preventing and suppressing criminal and other offenses, protecting the lives, health and rights of servicemen, countering sabotage and terrorist acts at military facilities, and fighting enemy sabotage and reconnaissance groups.

With the beginning of the full-scale armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine, servicemen of the Law Enforcement Service took direct part in the defense and liberation of the cities of Hostomel, Irpin, Chernihiv, defended the cities of Siverskodonetsk and Lysychansk from Russian aggression, liberated Kharkiv and Mykolaiv regions, the right-bank Kherson region and the city of Kherson as part of the defense forces, and countered Russian enemy groups at military facilities and in areas of military (combat) operations.
