The 15th Separate Artillery Reconnaissance Brigade “Black Forest” is one of the most technologically advanced military formations in Ukraine. Not a single key event of the Russian-Ukrainian war was without the participation of this unit. Thanks to the brigade's actions, a considerable amount of valuable high-tech enemy equipment was destroyed.

On November 3, 2023, in order to restore the historical traditions of the national army, taking into account the exemplary performance of assigned tasks in the protection of the territorial integrity and independence of Ukraine, the 15th separate artillery reconnaissance brigade of the Land Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine was awarded the honorary name “Black Forest” by the Decree of the President of Ukraine V. Zelenskyi.
