Stamp sheet «Sixties. Ivan Svitlichnyi. 1929-1992»

In 2019, Ukrposhta introduced a postage stamp issue dedicated to the Sixties, a young generation of Ukrainian national intellectuals with a clear civic position formed during the temporary “thaw” of the Soviet regime (second half of the 1950s - early 1960s). The postage stamp depicts Alla Horska's work Ivan Svitlychnyi (1963). Alla Horska was a prominent representative of the Sixties movement, a monumentalist artist, and a human rights activist. Her stained-glass window, created to mark the 150th anniversary of Taras Shevchenko at the university of the same name, was destroyed by the administration of the educational institution on the instructions of the party leadership, and the artist herself was murdered at the age of 41 under circumstances that have not been fully clarified.
