The series "200th anniversary of the birth of Taras Shevchenko" includes a series of postal issues dedicated to the anniversary date and shows the versatility of the Ukrainian genius.

The block contains a facsimile copy of the poem "The Sun is Setting, the Mountains are Blackening..." and drawings from the period of exile (1847-1857). Among the drawings: an image of a Kazakh woman (1856), an illustration of the Kara-Butak fort made during the Aral Sea descriptive expedition, and Shevchenko's self-portrait (1847).
