Sheet «Kyiv Princesses on European thrones»

In Stock

The stamp was issued in May 2016 to commemorate the ancient Ukrainian women who became wives of European rulers and ruled fairly and wisely alongside their husbands in France, Norway, Poland and other countries of the continent.

Their rule testifies to the strong ties between Kievan Rus and European countries in the Middle Ages.

The sheet of 12 stamps depicts 12 princesses: "Anna (1032-1075)," "Malfrid (Malmfred) (1095/1102-1137)," "Vysheslava (Vyslava) (1047-1089)," "Efimiya (Euphemia) (1096-1138)," "Eupraxia-Adelheira (1071-1109)," "Elizabeth-Elisiv (1025-1076), "Anastasia-Agmunda (1020-1074/1094), Zbyslawa (1090-1114), Dobroniga (Dobronieva)-Maria (1012-1087), Predslava (1090-1109), Eupraxia (Dobrodiya)-Iryna (1108-1172), Efrosynia (Fruzina) (1130-1193).
