May 4 — Star Wars Day

May the Force be with you — May the 4th

Thanks to a play on words, every year on May 4 fans of events that happened “a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away” wish each other the Force. Ukrainians, too, must stop an empire and destroy its Death Star with a precise strike, so we celebrate Star Wars Day together with Jedi around the world.

May 5 — Ukrainian strikes on Cheboksary

As part of the Deep Strike operation, F-5 Flamingo cruise missiles successfully reached facilities of Russia’s military-industrial complex in Cheboksary. Historically, these Volga lands — subjugated first by the Mongols and later by their Muscovite vassals — were inhabited by the Bulgars, and Prince Sviatoslav the Brave once campaigned in those regions. Sviatoslav did not subjugate the Bulgars and likely never reached the territory of present-day Cheboksary, but it’s hard not to mention one of the first princes who carried out deep strikes.

May 10 — 12 years of the Come Back Alive Foundation

Congratulations to the transparent and effective charitable foundation that has consistently implemented large-scale defense projects. In 2022, Come Back Alive became the first non-governmental organization authorized to purchase lethal weapons for Ukraine’s Defense Forces. Yet it all began back in May 2014 with the purchase of body armor, on which volunteers wrote the words: “Come Back Alive.”

May 8 — President Zelensky signed a decree permitting the parade in Moscow

“In response to numerous requests, and for humanitarian purposes outlined during negotiations with the American side, on May 8, 2026, I hereby decree:

1. To permit the holding of a parade in the city of Moscow (Russian Federation) on May 9, 2026. For the duration of the parade (starting at 10:00 a.m. Kyiv time on May 9, 2026), the territorial square of Red Square shall be excluded from the operational targeting plan of Ukrainian weapons systems.

2. This Decree enters into force on the day of its signing,” — the Decree says.
