Block «Minerals of Ukraine» 2009

The postal block consists of six stamps: “Quartz", "Native Sulphur", "Topaz", "Beryl", "Tiger's Eye", and "Alpha Kerchenite".

All the minerals depicted on the sheet can be found in the subsoil of Ukraine. Each stamp tells about a particular mineral that is common in a particular region of Ukraine.

For example, quartz is widespread in the Carpathians, native sulfur is mined in the Carpathian region, topaz can be found in Zhytomyr region, tiger's eye is found in Kryvyi Rih, and alpha kerchenite is typical of Crimea. These minerals symbolize the richness and diversity of Ukraine's natural resources, reflecting the geological uniqueness of each region.
