Description:

On March 1, 1918, the Central Rada of the Ukrainian People's Republic introduced the hryvnia as the main currency, which was divided into 100 shahs. Among other things, change stamps were issued in denominations of 10, 20, 30, 40, and 50 shahs. These stamps, made of coarse paper, had an inscription on the back: “Walks on a par with a ringing coin,” which confirmed their status as legal tender. Famous Ukrainian graphic artist Heorhii Narbut designed the 30, 40, and 50 stamps, while Anton Sereda designed the 10 and 20 stamps.

In 2008, in honor of the 90th anniversary of the first postage stamps of the Ukrainian state, Ukrposhta prepared thematic issues.
