A Cossack of the cavalry regiment of the Black Cossacks is a legendary unit of the Army of the Ukrainian People's Republic. Its formation began in December 1918 on the basis of the cavalry hundred of the 2nd Zaporizhzhya Regiment of the Zaporizhzhya Division. During 1919, the Black Cossacks took an active part in the war with the Bolsheviks and the White Guards. Became one of the main forces in the First Winter Campaign of the Army of the Ukrainian People's Republic (December 6, 1919 - May 5, 1920). During this brilliant military raid, the UPR troops marched 2,500 km behind the Reds and Whites.
