Personalized Stamp Issue: 70 Years of EUROPA Stamps – United in

On 10 July 2026, Ukrposhta issues a special stamp set celebrating the 70th anniversary of the EUROPA stamp programme, one of Europe's longest-running and most prestigious joint philatelic initiatives.

The history of EUROPA stamps began in 1956, when the six founding members of what would later become the European Union—Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, Luxembourg, and the Netherlands—issued stamps bearing a common symbol to express their shared commitment to peace, cooperation, and European unity in the aftermath of the Second World War. Today, the programme is coordinated by PostEurop and brings together 53 postal operators across the continent.

Each year, PostEurop either announces a common theme or organizes an international design competition. In competition years, the winning design is issued by all participating postal administrations, while each country also releases its own national stamp reflecting the annual theme.

That is why the Ukrainian EUROPA 2026 issue consists of two stamps.

The "EUROPA" stamp features the winning design by Finnish graphic designer Klaus Welp. Seven coloured dots, stylised as stamp perforations, represent seven decades of cooperation among Europe's postal operators, while the flowing colours evoke the European flag and symbolize the unity of the participating countries.

The second stamp, "70 Years of EUROPA Stamps," presents the Ukrainian competition entry created by celebrated Ukrainian illustrator Kost Lavro. White doves form the silhouettes of postage stamps set against iconic landmarks of European capitals, highlighting the role that EUROPA stamps have played for seventy years as a symbol of cultural diplomacy, international dialogue, and mutual understanding.

On July 10, 2026, a new Ukrainian postage stamps titled "EUROPA" and "70 years of EUROPA stamps" will be officially issued and valid for postal use nationwide.

The special First Day cancellation ceremony will take place in Kyiv, 02002.
