Sheet «Heroic Professions. Bread at the сost of life»

In Stock

Despite constant shelling, mined fields, and danger, farmers remain where they are—on the land that feeds the country. They sow and harvest even when shells are exploding nearby. Sometimes at the cost of their own lives, without sappers or special equipment, they clear the fields themselves so as not to lose precious time for the future harvest.

Today, these people are true heroes. Their selfless work during a full-scale war has helped prevent a food crisis in the country and provided the Ukrainian military, hospitals, and communities with food. Thanks to the heroic work of Ukrainian farmers, Ukraine remains among the ten largest wheat producers in the world.

The story behind the “Bread at the Cost of Life” postage stamp is based on the story of Oleksandr Gordienko, a well-known farmer from Kherson, who cleared hundreds of hectares of fields of mines and shot down about a hundred enemy drones with his anti-drone rifle. However, he did not manage to stop the last drone — on September 5, 2025, a russian UAV hit his car.
