700.00 ₴

Fridtjof Nansen was an outstanding Norwegian polar explorer, scientist, diplomat, philanthropist, and Nobel Peace Prize laureate who made a significant contribution to saving Ukrainians from famine in the 1920s. In 1922, the Nansen Mission began providing humanitarian aid to Ukrainians, while the “Nansen Passport” — the first international document for refugees, initiated by Nansen — enabled tens of thousands of people to legally seek safety abroad.

The postage stamp issue dedicated to the memory of Fridtjof Nansen recalls this important chapter in Ukrainian-Norwegian relations and highlights the connection between history and the present. A century later, Norway continues to support Ukraine, including through the Nansen Support Programme launched in 2023, which provides assistance to Ukraine through 2030.

The issue was produced as part of the "Personalized Stamp" project.
