Envelope with special cancellation «State Border Guard Service of Ukraine. 35 Years»

On November 4, 1991, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted the Law of Ukraine “On the State Border of Ukraine” as well as the Law of Ukraine “On the Border Troops of Ukraine.” These two legislative acts logically embodied the country’s position on defining its own borders and establishing the security component of the state.

The state border of Ukraine is inviolable. It defines the territorial boundaries of Ukraine as a fully-fledged subject of international law. Our country has one of the longest state borders on the European continent — approximately 7,000 kilometers — while the area of Ukraine’s exclusive (maritime) economic zone exceeds 72,000 square kilometers.

Today, Ukraine is waging a just struggle to restore its territorial integrity within its internationally recognized borders.

The envelope features artwork based on a quote from a poem by Ukrainian poet Taras Shevchenko — “And there will be no enemy on the renewed land…” — and bears the “Trident” postmark with a special cancellation “tate Border Guard Service of Ukraine. 35 Years”.

Issued as part of the “Personalized Stamp” project.
