On March 6, 2022, the President of Ukraine established the honorary award “Hero City of Ukraine” to honor the feat, mass heroism and resilience of citizens who defended their cities during the repulse of Russia's armed aggression.

In Kyiv region, the following cities were awarded the honorary insignia: Bucha, Irpin, and Hostomel, and these cities are the focus of the philatelic products put into circulation on July 29, 2024, as part of the “Personalized stamp” project.

The envelope features a work by watercolorist Maksym Kisilov, “Church of the Intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary (Gostomel).”
