Stamp “War for Ukraine's Independence. 19.02.2014 – ...”

On August 21, 2025, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted, and President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky signed, the law “On the Principles of State Policy on National Memory of the Ukrainian People,” which for the first time officially enshrined in law the name of the Russian Federation's armed aggression against Ukraine – “War for Ukraine's Independence.”

The document records the start of the war on February 19, 2014. The law enshrines the concept of “Russian imperialism” in the legal field for the first time and defines new categories such as “national memory” and “historical anti-Ukrainian propaganda.” The document emphasizes that the war is a consequence of Russia's imperial policy aimed at destroying Ukrainian statehood, including the occupation of Crimea and aggression in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions.
