The 80th Separate Airborne Assault Galician Brigade is the elite of the Ukrainian army, embodying honor, courage, and indomitable spirit. In the most difficult moments for the state, it is the paratroopers who go where it is most difficult, take on the most responsible tasks, and demonstrate an example of courage that inspires the whole country. Their glory is the glory of Galicia, the glory of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the glory of a nation fighting for freedom. The 80th Separate Galician Airborne Assault Brigade of the Airborne Assault Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine is one of the most powerful combat brigades with a glorious and heroic history. Lviv paratroopers were among the first to enter the battle in April 2014. During the ATO/OOS period, the brigade liberated Sloviansk, carried out tasks in the areas of Georgiivka, Hryashchuvate, Novosvitlivka, Krasne, Kruhlyk, and Pishchane, and defended the Luhansk and Donetsk airports. Since the beginning of the large-scale invasion, the brigade's units have participated in the liberation of Voznesensk, the counteroffensive operation in the Kharkiv region, the battles for Bakhmut and Klishchiivka, the Kursk offensive operation, and the defense of the city of Sumy. About 5,000 soldiers of the brigade have been awarded state and departmental awards, including 9 Heroes of Ukraine, 3 recipients of the Cross of Military Merit, 16 full knights of the Order of Bohdan Khmelnytsky, and 5 full recipients of the Order for Courage.
