Postal issues with the image of coats of arms are always of interest to philatelists. The ninth issue of definitive postage stamps of Ukraine, which lasted from 2017 to 2022, combined the 21st definitive postage stamp with the image of the coats of arms of 12 cities, 5 towns and 4 villages of different regions of Ukraine. The 9th issue, developed with the assistance of the Ukrainian Heraldic Society, also contains postage stamps with the coats of arms of the city of Yalta (AR Crimea) and the city of Yenakiyevo (Donetsk region), which once again indicates that Crimea, Donetsk and Luhansk regions, whose territories belong to Ukraine are currently under temporary occupation.

The coats of arms of settlements are presented in a series according to a single system: in rounded shields, inscribed in decorative cartouches and crowned with a corresponding heraldic crown, which indicates the status of the settlement. For cities and towns of the urban type, these are silver city crowns in the form of a brick tower with three merlons. For villages that once had city rights, but lost this status, these are red city crowns. On the coats of arms of villages that never had city rights, the role of a status crown is performed by a golden crown of five ears of wheat.
