Description:

The labeled envelope depicts the little-known Stepan Vaida, a member of the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists, commander of a tank company and later a tank battalion in the 1st Czechoslovak Army Corps, a unit formed during World War II that fought on the Soviet-German front.

Stepan lived a short life (only 23 years old), but he managed to defend his native Transcarpathia from the Hungarians and liberate Bila Tserkva and Kyiv from the Germans.

The envelope was issued in January 2022 in honor of the 100th anniversary of the legendary Transcarpathian's birth.
