Description:

Ukrainian painter and graphic artist of world fame. One of the founders of cubofuturism, a leader and theoretician of the Ukrainian avant-garde. He taught at the Institute of Plastic Arts (since 1924 - Kyiv Art Institute). He was a member of ARMU (Association of Revolutionary Art of Ukraine). From 1922 to 1930, he was a professor at the Kyiv Art Institute. 

Bogomazov was an artist of the city. He wrote about Kyiv: "Kyiv in its plastic volume is full of beautiful, diverse, deep dynamism. Here the streets touch the sky, the forms are tense, the lines are energetic, they fall, break, sing and play. The pace of life emphasizes this dynamism even more, as if giving it a legal basis, spreading widely until it calms down on the quiet left bank of the Dnieper. Among the master's best canvases are "Tram (Lvivska Street, Kyiv)" (1914), "Train" (1914-1915), "Fitter" (1915).

Oleksandr Bogomazov devoted the painting "Pravka pyl" (1927) to the topic of work relevant in the 1920s, in the artistic solution of which he relied on his own theory. Avoiding the narration of the depicted scene, the artist looks for regularities in the ratio of locally colored color spots on the plane, solving color problems.

Bogomazov, according to his own words, using the harmony of lines and spots embodied a pictorial thought.
