The history of the National Guard of Ukraine (NGU) began in 2014, when, following the Revolution of Dignity, the annexation of Crimea and the escalation of the situation in eastern Ukraine, it became necessary to effectively counter attempts to seize local authorities, protect the territorial integrity of Ukraine, strengthen the borders and directly repel armed aggression.

Since the start of the full-scale invasion, the NGU units have been involved in all key areas of combat operations: defending and liberating settlements, participating in counteroffensive operations, and holding back the enemy along the entire front line.

The defense of the Gostomel airport, the battle for the capital of Ukraine - Kyiv, the defense of Sumy, Chernihiv regions and Mariupol, participation in the counteroffensive in Kharkiv and Kherson regions in the fall of 2022 are heroic pages in the history of the NGU and our state.
